It is clear though, that some of the more tenured graduate faculty are pretty "checked out" and the experience was very disjointed and lacked direction. Current Doctoral student: I am currently in my first year of an accelerated Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree with a specialization in Midwifery. The first year is accelerated to receive our RN license and BSN and therefore is quite rigorous and fast paced academically. The staff seem to care a lot about the well-being and success of their students and I have found a wonderful sense of community amongst my cohort mates. Master's Student: I am in my 3rd semester as a speech and language pathology graduate student. I have had 1-on-1 mentorship from a La Salle supervisor during clinic and from one of the faculty members. The professors care about their students and provide rigorous, evidence-based information that is useful in our careers and practicals. Our class consists of 33 students and everyone is supportive of each other and very friendly. The program feels like family and it is very easy to get integrated and get involved. I have also had the opportunity to lead a graduate research project that we will present at the ASHA and PSHA conventions in the fall and spring. Overall, this has been one of the best experiences of my life and is shaping my future clinical practice by some of the best experts in the field. There are also opportunities to work on projects with professors and learn from practicing clinicians with years of expertise under their belt. If you're looking for an SLP program-- this is it!... Doctoral Student: Nebraska Methodist College has a great online graduate program. It is easy to follow. The professors are always available to assist if needed. I work full time and go to school full time. I just try to spend most days doing a little bit of homework so it isn’t built up for one time. I think this program is very manageable. As for the worst part, I did have trouble finding my own clinical for my OB and Pediatric rotation. As students we are able to sign up for assistance finding preceptors if it’s in a timely manner. I did for this part and was put with a family practice office for my peds rotation and a UroGYN for my OB rotation. This is honestly the worst thing I could come up with. Even with this I felt like I got so much experience with these two clinics.... Read 9 reviews
