Master's Student: I did my bachelors in biotechnology from kinnaird college of women university from lahore, Pakistan. I have recently been admitted to New York University, Tandon school of engineering for masters in Bioinformatics this fall 2023. I have worked as laboratory technician and in pathology lab, quality assurance lab and petrochemical industry. So far my studies have been great especially doing my research on probiotics. I have taken many different courses related to genetics, bioengineering and biosafety and biofuels.Now i’m excited to further polish my skills. The main goal for pursuing my masters program is to to contribute to healthcare society through data analysis and bioinformatics techniques. I would like to do my capstone project related to treating genetic diseases using computer systems. Master's Student: As a current Co-term student at RPI, studying to obtain a Masters of Engineering degree, the department is supportive, interactive, and fun! To prepare for the first semester, the school of engineering held new graduate orientations and individual department orientations for new students to help prepare them for their graduate careers. Moreover, the MANE department, located on one of the main floors of the engineering building, demonstrates their support through interactive ways such as posting a big poster of all the graduate students on one of the halls, celebrating achievements in academia on school TVs, and lastly host events such as graduate student appreciation day filled with prizes, food, and recognitions. If I had to point out a rather difficult experience, it would be the lack of resources when it comes to learning about and picking classes, especially knowing what classes are offered in a given semester.... Alum: The Optics program is the toughest offered at the school. Optics grads do twice as much (60 credit hours instead of 30) class work as other degrees. You learn a ton! The field is so diverse you can pick and choose what subfields to focus on, and all fields are offered. Amazing professors. In all my classes, I felt one professor was bad at teaching. Current Master's student: Studying Applied Theatre at CUNY under one of the pioneers of the profession, Christopher Vine has been an enlightening and rewarding experience. My cohort is supportive in both my academic and professional process. In recognizing that theatre and education in the US is still dominated by white leaders, it has been illuminating to be an Asian American in a space where my opinions and ideas are held in high regard by my professors and my classmates. Though I find the work to be sometimes hard and overwhelming, I'm driven to keep going because of the confidence the people in my program have in me.
