The coursework is relevant and challenging. The academic experience allows you to reflect upon and work on your own strengths, biases, and ability to work with clients. As a person that has some field experience, the knowledge that you obtain from the classes relate directly to the field of work. Currently, the school is offering hybrid and in-person classes. This is great for individuals that work full-time, like myself. The school has various connections to set up the best possible field placement to obtain experience.
The pandemic has made things difficult for everyone. The workload for your MSW is a lot and everything tends to be due at the same time. However, most of my teachers are understanding, kind, and amazing. They work with you to help you succeed. I give 4/5 stars due to how they decided to forego the next semester with the pandemic. They didn’t ask us students what we wanted to do. I wanted to stay virtual because of family’s health reasons, but I have one class in-person (which is better than many of my other classmates, who have multiple in-person classes).
I've had some amazing professors at this school who have taught me so much and have made this education worth it. However, the internship placement department is horrible. They are unorganized, they all tell you a different story, my adviser actually told me that she has a lot of students so it's not her fault she doesn't remember our conversations and doesn't have time to reach out to communicate with me. If you are able to advocate for yourself and find your own internship you'll do really well. Reach out to previous students or 2nd years for professor and internship recommendations.
