School of Public Affairs & Administration - The University of Kansas Reviews
Rating 2.5 out of 5 2 reviews
Coursework was engaging and useful. We studied various topics related to the social work field. All of our classes, including practicum was online so that made learning about in person communication difficult and at the same time kept me safe. I was told that I was not smiling enough. I learned about various social work related theories that apply to countries outside of the US and wanted to study abroad in Italy but due to covid we were not able to. We learned about various techniques to support social work service clients such as ways to interview them, support them in managing their thoughts and endeveurs. We even learned how to write down what we wanted to do with our daily and long term lives.
Social work theory. Everything was online. We were not given KU ID cards because of covid so I wasnt able to get into the student bar that I live practically directly next to. I was advised not to do my practicum in Lawrence due to various reasons. I chose to withdraw from my second year's first semester. I have therefore been ridiculed for traveling within state, and been accused of being mentally ill for doing so. I also havent been able to get a job. I am at risk of becoming homeless for the second time. One of my professors Terry Koenig is astute and respectful in my opinion. Some of my classmates judged her for a comment she made regarding a person of color being successful but I believe they eventually forgave her.
