The Pitt Athletic Training program provides you with the opportunity to take what you learn in the classroom and apply it in a variety of clinical settings. Our students will be integrated into the health care model for University of Pittsburgh D1 athletes, housed within the four athletic training facilities located on campus. Complete additional clinicals with Pittsburgh Steelers, Carnegie Mellon University, La Roche University, Robert Morris University, Chatham University, The UPMC Freddie Fu Sports Medicine Center, The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex and seven local area high schools.

Our program combines traditional didactic lectures with out-of-the-classroom learning opportunities, case-based individual and group activities and hands-on skills labs. It provides exceptional clinical placements including an elective rotation during your clinical year. You will gain experience in a variety of medical, surgical and clinical settings. Pitt's Speech-Language Pathology (MA/MS) arms you with a broad knowledge base, a keen understanding of the ethical responsibilities and exceptional problem-solving skills. Under the guidance of faculty mentors, you will learn to deliver SLP services in real-world settings from Day 1 of your program. Our clinical partners include both adult and pediatric sites such as UPMC, the VA Medical Center, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Public Schools and early intervention agencies. Our graduates successfully pass their national board examinations and 100% gain employment as SLPs.

Sports Medicine (MS) has a strong reputation for its multidisciplinary curriculum and highly personalized approach. Pitt Clinical Mental Health Counseling prepares students to address the complex challenges faced by clients of diverse backgrounds, including individuals across cultures, across the lifespan, and those with disabilities and mental and behavioral health challenges. Graduates are eligible for certification as a national certified counselor (NCC) or certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC) and meet PA education requirements for licensure as a professional counselor (LPC).
