Ohio University Graduate Reviews

Overall, the school is pretty good. Lots of good amenities, and Athens OH is an excellent place to live.
It’s a hard place to go for grad school - it’s such a party school that you can’t live anywhere near campus if you want to study, work on papers/research/thesis etc. The music building was constantly being overrun by potheads (literally, smoking weed under the building so it wafted INTO the building), the library would shake when party-goers stormed the streets, etc.
If you have a particular professor/mentor in mind that you HAVE to study under, then I say go for it! If it’s a second or third option for you, I say it’s not really worth it. I could have gotten a similar or better education for the same price at a school that takes its graduate research more seriously

Oh! And never forget - there are more rape/sexual harassment warnings and emails that go out than I’ve seen at any school. It’s a mostly white campus that is totally disengaged from progress

I went to Ohio University for my undergraduate degree and am now a graduate student here - I love the campus, the people who work for the university really want to see you succeed, and they are willing to help you if you put the work in! The university has made strides to improve their dining hall and residence hall experiences, and the general Athens area is a dream.
It is a really good college. The people there are wonderful, it is one of the best schools I have gone to. The professors are the best. They have one of the best teaching programs the teaching professors are really good. The other students there are really nice and helpful you can always find someone to study with or to hangout with it's really the best college. A lot of the professors will work with you if you're not understanding something. The food there is the best! There's always something to do never a dull moment. It's fun having a roommate too.
