I've had a great experience with NYIT so far in my graduate career. I'm enrolled in the College of Osteopathic Medicine. The environment and sense of camaraderie among the medical students is exceptional. Everyone wants to help one another succeed. The pathology professors and pharmacology professors are very knowledgeable. Most of the professors are willing to answer questions and help you learn. The mentorship in this school is remarkable. There are so many programs and opportunities where you are paired with professors, alumni, and upperclassmen. The safety on campus is great. We are one of the safest campuses in the nation. The only suggestions I have for improvement is limited study spaces given the amount of students, the delayed scheduling information release by administration, limited research opportunities, limited rotation sites in the surrounding counties, and lack of on-campus housing. Otherwise, great students, great location, great faculty, and promising future.
I have never left a class feeling confused about any of the course material. Staff is more than happy to work along-side students to make sure you truly understand the material being taught. They want their students to do well, having multiple resources available to ensure that students will succeed in their institution. They want their students to entirely understand course work, not for a grade, but to be able to utilize the material learned in the real world and their future occupation. Students have access to a peer mentor as well as an advisor throughout their entire education. Students can go to these people for any needed guidance, or concerns. NYIT is there for their students, giving the most for their education.
Completing my undergraduate degree at Stony Brook University (SBU), I thought I would not even consider obtaining my graduate degree at another school - that was until I applied to New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). I personally fell in love with the atmosphere of NYIT . . . their campus was absolutely beautiful, something to truly take your breath away while building the excitement to continuing your education. My first impression of the campus and their staff was the day of my graduate interview. It was my first interview ever, I was beyond nervous, but when approached by their staff and former students all nerves were soothed and I felt like I was greeted by family. I loved seeing the collaboration of students among similar programs. Being an occupational therapy student, I can easily say we work closely along-side PT, PA, and Nursing students, among so many more. So if you're looking for a campus where you feel close with peers and advisors, NYIT is your place to be.
