I enjoyed attending Minot State University because it was overall very welcoming. I really branched out and came out of my shell while having the opportunity to learn on this wonderful campus. In high school, I was shy, quiet, and considered a wall flower. After meeting my now very close friends, I was able to learn and experience things I would have never had the courage to do alone. Thanks to my experience at Minot State, I've become more vocal, outgoing, and social. I'd recommend Minot State University to anyone who is looking for all the hustle and bustle of city life while enjoying the comfort and relaxation of home-like dorms and common areas.
Academically, Minot State University is one of the top institutions in the state. Not only are the classes themselves very informative, making it nearly impossible to fail, but the instructors are extremely knowledgeable in the subjects they teach. They also explain topics in different ways to meet the needs of those who learn differently than others which I personally enjoyed very much.
Not a bad university. The class sizes at Minot State are small , campus is small so walking to and from classes isn't a hastle. Incoming freshman who live on campus will stay in freshman dorms which aren't anything special . There are 2 updated modern dorms which are way better than the freshman dorms. I suggest staying in the dorms if your not from the area only for the reason to build friendships. Along with the dorms the school cafateteria isn't bad just average cafateteria food.
The winters in North Dakota are tough , we get anything from from major snowstorms to -10 temperatures that last from December to March. I also found out the hard way that not starting your car in a North Dakota winter for a few days can kill the battery. However the campus does a good job of clearing the snow from the walkways.
Finally, the mall , Target , Walmart and most restaurants are all located at the Southern end of the city so it's a 10-15 minute drive to get there.
