Marywood University Graduate Reviews

Some of the classes were taught by professionals in the communication field who knew what they were doing and offered great insight that made me feel like I really was learning something. And then I had practical communications classes where the graduate students were lumped in with the undergraduates. It made no sense. The degree requirements for the communication arts M.A. also stated we needed specific classes, but some of them were never offered. I ended up having to change my track from production to interdisciplinary studies because there was literally no way of fulfilling the class requirements for production. If I could go back and do graduate school there again, I wouldn't.

I loved the campus and some of the professors, but the overall experience was lacking. The facilities we needed to complete our projects sometimes weren't open (like the library!), and no one ever explained the basic academic processes, things that undergrads would know from being on campus all the time but which were never explained to graduate students who are only there sometimes. Classes were only offered at night, which was a problem for a working journalist, so I ended up having to take a bunch of online classes that weren't even really relevant to my degree. I rarely had opportunities to take the classes I wanted, and I left feeling like all I got was a $40,000 piece of paper and no education.
I'm majoring in Secondary English Education. In my second seminar I got to go to a school and observe teaching. I thought that was AWESOME! I love my teachers they are so helpful and caring. I tell everyone how much I love it here. Due to coronia I had to do online classes but my teachers were great!
