Johnson & Wales University- Providence Reviews
Rating 4.41 out of 5 27 reviews
At Johnson and Wales, many of the teachers within my field of study have actually been apart of or are still part of law enforcement. Not to mention, a lot of my teachers that are teaching me in my junior year have been teaching me since my freshman year at the university so I am more than comfortable with my curriculum. For example my corrections teacher was a corrections officer and also a detective. My criminal investigation was a detective and now he's an attorney along with my criminal procedure teacher who is a full time attorney as well. Many of the classes that I take, deep dive into the different fields that Criminal Justice has to offer. As I mentioned, my classes are taught by teachers who are well informed and provide good insight on what to expect and the right practices/methods used to combat crime. The classwork and lectures they have allow us to analyze the world and different scenarios around us so we are prepared and well informed on what to do.
Rigorous program, but to be expected from a PA program. The faculty and staff on the whole are helpful and supportive. The program is small; something to be aware of if you're looking for a larger program. Given that it is small, I felt I got more one-on-one time with my advisor or if help was needed from a professor.
I have had a great experience at JWU. I enjoy my professors and the courses offered in my program, but I wish there was greater student-to-student interaction for online courses.
