I was able to study core courses that were engaging and informative and was also able to create study of my own interest on topics that I was passionate about. I was working on a graduate degree, so I cannot comment on what the undergraduate academic program includes. Because of the freedom to take graduate research and reading courses multiple times, I was essentially able to design my own course of study. The courses which included class discussion were interesting and enlightening. All of the professors seemed to be encouraging and willing to help students. We were given opportunities for the professors to pre-grade work and then make corrections/improvements prior to handing in. There was also a good reserach library with full time staff to assist students with resources and questions. Additonally, there were online lectures and other resources readily available if they were needed.
Fort Hays was highly rated for an online graduate degree in Art History, which was my first priority. The fact that it was reasonably priced and could be completed online was another deciding factor. I was also able to design many of my classes and research topics which I was passionate about which was an added bonus. My advisor/professor in the art history department was outstanding and supportive. The only thing I would change are some of the "how to do research" classes that are prerequisites to actually working on the concentration classes. In those classes there was quite a bit of what could be considered "busy work" and they tended to be a little too focused on being politically correct. That aisde, I was able to earn my degree at a price I could afford and in a year and a half. All in all, I would recommend Fort Hayes to anyone looking to earn a degree online. The work was entirely asynchronous and done at my own pace and on my own schedule.
Great experience, did all online classes and loved it! All the teachers were great to work with and allowed me enough time to do my online assignments. They know we all had busy lives.
