2. Academics are challenging at Emory School of Medicine, but by no means overwhelming. There are so many incredible professors and classes that it is unfeasible to experience them all. I enjoy how integrated and intimate the courses were. You can build a great rapport with your professors and colleagues. As a first-year student, that kind of environment was instant gratification. The core curriculums were extremely competitive, and the atmosphere was one that encouraged learning. Some of the materials I learned from Emory's program helped me with my job. Emory's School of Medicine academics gave me respect, a reputation, and contacts to help me find work after school.
I completed three years of school at Emory University. While working three jobs, I was able to overcome obstacles and obtain my bachelor’s degree. During my time I did experience some racial biases. Putting myself through school was the toughest thing I have ever done. In the end, I beat the odds as a female, and as a minority. I will continue to prevail throughout my education and professional career.
The School itself was always clean and felt like a safe environment. The staff and faculty were always welcoming and supportive. The school was forward thinking and inclusive, working on building their diversity in the student population and staff.
