About
From Dakota State University
In 1881, Dakota State University was founded as a school for teacher education, in the Dakota Territory. Though we have since shifted our primary focus of education to the cyber world, Dakota State remains one of the few universities in the nation, who provides students with the technology needed to excel in any career.
As a united front, our Trojans remain on an upward trajectory into the future. We’re growing at a fast pace, expanding our campus, and immersing ourselves in the most advanced and innovative technologies. We want you to rise with us.

Dakota state university is not only affordable for the Health Information Management program, but also offers the program online! Furthermore, the university allows students to take 4 master level courses in substitute for 4 undergraduate courses! Now, starting the master program in my field of work with DSU, I only be have 8 courses versus 12 to complete my degree.
The school allows the use of recycled lectures from years ago, is soft on grading (which means you get an A for your hard work and others get bonus points to pad the grades), and throws together materials for a course cirriculum that you get to troubleshoot for them. I expected a refined cirriculum and instruction, but I didn't receive either.
I’m not familiar with all academic programs, but the university is connected with all universities in SD so if one university or campus does not offer the course you want, you can look at other campuses in SD without having to apply to the other school!
