My experience with CUNY York College was amazing. The college itself is very welcoming, diverse and cultural oriented. It was very important for me that the college allows everyone in from different cultures and backgrounds. One thing I love about York College is everyone will help you. If you are lost during class, trying to find your way to class, need help with studying and doing homework. The school provides space for students to study as well as tutors to help students achieve. A change I would like to see is having the school to participate in exercises that will teach student about real world problems and how to solve or overcome those problems.
The coursework work at York College is very fair and helpful. Some professors assign homeworks through portal, some require active homework and some written. I enjoy doing coursework outside of school because I am giving time to myself to study outside of the school as well. The grading is done fairly, professors are always there to help you. If you are going through something the professors, counselors and other faculty members are there to help you.
Although, it was quite some time ago, my experience at CUNY York was pretty great mentally and physically. It provided growth through my teens into early adult years. The staff were extremely supportive especially my SEEK advisor and a few of my teacher. I have a disability which sometime required extra time and extra mental strength. With God center in my life and very supportive mentors, advisors and teachers I was able to accomplish my goal of graduating. Unfortunately, not with the grades I was aiming for but I am still proud to be a graduate of York college.
I'm not sure what changes were made or how many staff I personally had the pleasure of connecting with are still on payroll. One thing is for sure, the support is definitely there for an undergraduate.
