California State University - San Marcos Reviews

I am the first in my family to go to college and recieved a bachelors degree. I studied Human Development. The first semester of college was very challenging. I was learning balance and time management. I was a part time worker and a full time student. It was difficult balancing school and work. I learned to be successful by creating a bond with my professors. They helped me gain confidence and courage. They helped me beleive in myself when I was struggling. I am currently enrolled in a Speech pathology prep porgram to persue my career goal in becoming a speech pathologist. The advisors are super helpful and care about students success. The courses are fast pace but I have a positive mindest to be organized and confident to follow my dreams. I enjoy being a college student it has taught me to ask for help, create a bond, be mindful and successful.
I have never come across a professor that I didn't get along with! they are all driven to help the students succeed and there are tutoring recourse for students. However, a student like me doesn't get the tutoring services because I work part-time and go to school either full-time/part-time. I cannot make the tutoring hours because they coincide with my work hours. I would prefer to set up studying times in the future after work if possible.
I feel that the program was great if you were looking towards a Ph. D program. Overall the program was heavy on public speaking. Multiple classes revolved around dissecting research articles and presenting their findings. Many of my classmates were able to secure Ph. D positions and funding from their research and skills learned in the program. Biomechanics and Motor Control relied on MATLAB for manipulating and computing data which was great because there are so many different ways to be a kinesiologist. The skills you learn in understanding coding are so useful in other aspects of work. The logic helps to simplify decisions and increase productivity. Research methods had to be the worst class it did not seem the instructor knew what she was doing.
