California State University - Northridge Graduate Reviews

Being a student who's returning after several years away, I'm thankful for the COMS Dept at CSUN. Coursework is scaffolded to help us become proficient scholars (including presenting at conferences/getting published), mentoring on the part of our professors, and a variety of things have been put in place to support us individually and collectively within the program. I have cohorts who are also friends, and we support each other throughout. I'm able to seek out ways to tailor my program so it will maximize my hiring potential in my field once I've completed my degree. We're encouraged to visit our professors during office hours with any/all questions. While the rigor is definitely there, all of it has a purpose. I'm very proud to be a Matador, and will be an even better instructor to my students.

I really like this CSUN because the program, housing office, dreamer center, and clubs have to offer an interpreter for the deaf community. This campus has a friendly environment for the deaf community. The deaf community will feel empowered to voice as equality as others. What I can suggest for change? I would highly recommend changing a better system for the police situation. They need to set up a small camera for the dorm because it kept stealing the bike. They didn't have anything to do stop it. It should have a better system.
Not a day goes by that I do not think about my days at CSUN. From my first day as a freshman to my last day as a graduate student. Those were the most intense yet most rewarding five years of my life. The knowledge I obtained, the classmates I met along with the very passionate professors made my whole experience worth it. The professors are helpful, are always willing to help you out and hear your concerns and opinions. The campus is well known to be very diverse, there are people from many with different values, cultural backgrounds and eagerness to succeed. Aside from the academics, the campus is located in an area in which you do not have to drive too far to buy groceries, or exercise. Everything you need is within a ten mile radius.
