The course work was very much so engaging. There were professors whom were actual attorneys and judges. The most positive Judge and professional workers i knew were, Dr. Nowell (Rest in Peace) and Dr. Chester Wilson. Those men treated every student as they were capable of anything. They reminded you of your potential and reason for being in college. I admired their ability to change every students focus and negations on what they were capable of. The best skills in school has driven many students to pursue higher abilities to keep going regardless of the circumstances. I am beyond grateful to have such amazing leaders including Mrs. Flynt in my Criminal Justice courses. The best part of life is knowing that someone cares if you make it and are very thrilled to see you obtain every goal you ever wished to achieve.
My experience at Bethune Cookman University was like no other experience. I received my undergraduate in Sociology and now I'm enrolled in the School of Religion for my Masters in Christian Ministry. The overall experience at this school is better than what I expected. Being a nontraditional student, I thought it was going to be a hard adjustment but it was quite the opposite. The traditional students looked to me for adult wisdom and advice because I gave a different perspective as a college student. The school has a family feel to it and the professors are always willing to go the extra mile to ensure your success. The overall spirit of an HBCU can be felt throughout the campus.
My experience at the great Bethune Cookman University was a great experience, I had the opportunity to be a student-athlete on the track and field team. I was able to compete in the NCAA Division 1 category and competing against high-class universities.
As a broadcast journalism major, I had the opportunity to use my background in sports and my interest in journalism to redesign a campus sports show. This experience help me gain more knowledge in my favorite sports and sports I may have had little knowledge of along with learning the television broadcasting environment.
Having the on-campus experience opened my eyes to a lot of things and got me to expand outside of my bubble. I appreciate the blessings of being able to attend and earn a college degree. I found myself in college and I encourage the next class and generation of high school students to consider a college education upon graduation.
Thank You.
