I am currently attending Averett University's very first cohort for the MSN Family Nurse Practitioner program in Danville, VA. This program has exceeded my expectations for a graduate nursing program especially due to the fact that it is the first FNP program in this area. It is also the first Emergency Nurse Practitioner Program in this area. This university encourages cultural diversity with its' vast population including international students. The graduate program encourages graduate thinking. It also has undergraduate programs that encourages continuing education up to the terminal degree of Doctorate. With this encouragement, I plan to pursue my Doctorate in Nursing. At this point in providing primary care and with the shortage in primary care providers, FNPs are an essential need for the future of providing high quality patient care and cost containment. Also, during our present pandemic, AU has provided & found FNP students clinical rotations which most institutions do not.
Averett University's (AU) academics range from Education to Nursing to Aviation to name just a few. AU strives to provide the most advanced education to its' local community and extends into the international population. I'm in the graduate nursing program (Family Nurse Practitioner) and plan to continue into the first Emergency Nurse Practitioner Program that AU has initiated in this region. The FNP program is the first in our area. I'm in the first cohort. Our professors range from those that are neuroscientists, to Dr. of Pharmacy and of course Doctorates' of Nursing degrees. With these experts in their fields, they are providing the students with the highest degree of learning that students can experience. Our preceptors in clinical rotations also have their Doctorates. They expect nothing more than our highest regard to learning and that is what AU is providing its' students in our learning experience. This will enable us to provide the best quality care to our communities.
The professors and administrators go above and beyond to make sure that all of your needs are met to ensure educational growth.
