I am honored to attend Austin Peay and to continue my education there. Though Austin Peay is a smaller university in Tennessee the college takes pride in catering to each students needs. The college offers military benefits to active duty members, retired, veteran, spouses , and dependents. They also offer several resources to students with learning disabilities and other disabilities. The institution also cares deeply about student success and mental health by offering free counseling sessions. By far, my favorite attribute from Austin Peay is the professors care for students. They are able to take extra time towards students understanding , education, and skills. The class size is smaller than larger Universities, so professors are able to help students one-on-one if they need extra help.
My program was actually very interesting. I was in the health and human performance program. Sometimes I felt like it was too much work and without the engagement with my peers, I probably would not had make it. It was all about discussing it with them and the professor before going home and working on the work. I was not bored and always engaged. I had an awesome class I graduated with and helped each other out. It was not easy, but it was not impossible. I learned so much from this program that I joke around with peers on how we should go back to school and they agree. It wasn’t about the fun or the hard work. It was that connection we made with the program and ourselves as a person. Health and Human Performance program was one of the best things that have happened to me. This programmed helped me see how how there are actually good people out there and to not give up on humanity. Like I have mentioned earlier, it was not easy, but it was worth it and one of the best experiences…….
Austin Peay State University offers plenty of majors to choose from with advisors to help each student along the way. While attending APSU, for my undergrad, I studied sociology and criminal justice. The professors were extremely helpful and worked diligently to assist me in better understanding the material. The class size is quiet small so they were able to take extra time and attention to each student.
