Appalachian State University Graduate Reviews

3 reviews
As a Biology MS student, App State has a lot to offer academically: helpful and caring professors, great labs with modern equipment. However, funding is an issue. There are no tuition or parking waivers and stipends are about $5.5k per semester for Biology. Other Grad departments are paid anywhere from $3-5k. The professors are highly knowledgeable in their fields and will help you immensely, but be prepared to take out loans or get a second job.

Appalachian has a beautiful campus that's easy to navigate. The students, faculty, and staff are all extremely nice and helpful. It is not too diverse but efforts to improve have been underway for some time.
Loved the area, theltics, and student involvement on campus. I would improve the area by making transportation easier and providing better on campus living. The faculty, for the most part, really seem to care for the students.
