It was a life affirming and changing experience. Caring and smart faculty. I studied Whole Systems Design and was able to combine many interests into my area of focus.
The curriculum was diverse. We used readers in order to get a diversity of opinions and theories. The team projects were challenging and valuable.
The faculty and staff at AUS are very approachable and always willing to help. I always get prompt email responses and the professors are very empathetic.
Antioch places a large emphasis on social justice initiatives. Their programs also require a lot of self-reflection and analysis of one's self. Most classes are discussion-based and in small groups.
As a student at Antioch University - Seattle, I adored the connection and collaboration with both staff and peers in the program. The amount of work the department does for the couples and family therapy program is astounding, and it was phenomenal to be able to go out in the community and have the skills and education required to be an asset as a therapist. Honestly I just wish I did not have to commute as far as I did, but it was well worth the sacrifice of sitting in Seattle traffic.
I am just beginning Graduate school at the same university I got my BA. Same staff, same pedagogy, so far...so good.
Antioch prides itself in diversity. Multiculturalism is taught throughout the graduate program which in turn helps students feel capable to work with a wide variety of clients post degree. Antioch would benefit from incorporating out of state internship opportunities as many of us had no intention of staying in Washington state.
I am just starting my graduate program with Antioch and I am very impressed with their programs so far. The instructors I've met have been very knowledgeable and the staff at the registrars office are very nice.
