Adelphi University Reviews
Rating 4.29 out of 5 42 reviews
I am a first year graduate student in the Graduate School of Social Work at the Adelphi campus and so far my experience has been great. I am a career changer and my both my counselors and professors are very understanding about that and do the best to accommodate students. The counselors and professors are also very knowledgeable as they all have a Masters' in Social Work, so they know how to guide and direct you. I have visited in the main campus in Garden City and it is beautiful as the grounds and facilities are well-kept and maintained. The Manhattan campus is small, but it offers everything that a traditional campus would as it has a library, a computer room, and all of the necessary administrators. The staff are very helpful and kind as they are understanding when you need something and will help you out the best they can. The professors will you treat you in the same manner as if there is anything you are having difficulty with in class will be adressed.
The cohorts and class sizes are small small which allow the professors to tailor lessons and conversations to the strengths of each student; there is always time to be heard inside and outside of class. The program is heavily psychodynamically oriented, but professors are more than willing to teach and discuss behaviorism if you bring it up.
I had a wonderful graduate experience. Professors were really engaging, and taught the material in such a way where I can apply to real life experiences. They pushed us to engage with our classmates and build fellow classmate relationship. Other students in the program helped one and another. Every student was at a different level in their career and this helped build network. Overall, it’s a very interesting experience, I would definitely recommend this school to students looking to obtain their masters.
