West Coast University - Los Angeles Reviews
West Coast excels in its attempt to get students in and out with a degree in hand. Some professors are amazing at their job while others flaunt their ability to make a course difficult for all students. Registering for a class that you want is very difficult as the classes have a tendency of filling up within 2 minutes of opening registration; however, the student tutors are amazing at filling whatever gaps and questions that students have when their professors do not meet their standards. The student advisors are very helpful; however, administration overall is below average in terms of response time. The classes are demanding, as expected, considering the fact that the program is accelerated. I transferred in after taking courses at a community college. Some peers that took all general education courses at WCU have told me that they all wish they had taken them somewhere else as it is costly. If a student's goal is to get their BSN in a fast manner, this is the way to go!
West Coast University is a great school that produces the highest quality of nurses! Over the past few years, the NCLEX pass rate has raised from 80% to an astonishing 92% passing rate! The professors at WCU have much experience in the field, and they share their passion and knowledge to their students. The staff and administration are there to help provide resources, such as PALS tutoring (Peer Assisted Learning), Career services and more. The clinical rotations have been such a great learning experience, and the hands-on experience we have is priceless! Nursing school is very difficult, but with the resources we are provided with, it helps make the experience a little less stressful. Since this is an accelerated program, it is very difficult to maintain a full-time job (which I have done up until now). It's difficult, but definitely manageable!
West Coast University gave me the chance to pursue my dream in becoming a nurse when I was declined by other Universities. It gave me hope that I can make something out of myself. West Coast university honed my skills and trained me into becoming a caring, devoted, understanding, and compassionate nurse. I have always wanted to help and lessen the pain and suffering of others. West Coast university gave me that chance. If there is something that I want to change would be, is to add more skill practice class.
