I love online learning! With the right teacher, you can do the appropriate prep to complete what you need to succeed and in the way that you learn best without having to waste time in a class each week. Provided expectations, due dates, and the syllabus are as clearly indicated as in-person classes are, the online route is ideal for the working individual, anyone concerned about safety or health, or those with dependents who are unwilling or unable to compromise their loved ones for in-person classes. The caliber of teachers, however, is worse than the lack of online only classes. To have a limit on course retakes and then have teachers that require students to look 6+ places for the same assignment deadline and STILL getting it wrong after a single announcement moves it up by hours, unlike any others, you need to monitor them more than you do teachers with physically present classes. It sounds easy on both sides, so hold teachers accountable too-not just the students you write off.
I have loved my time at Wake Tech actually. The North campus is beautiful, and there are quite a few campuses available for people throughout the city. Unfortunately, they do not offer as many online class options as seems necessary both by this quarantine as well as with working schedules for people not living for free at home. That would be ideal to change.
Also, if they want to have a policy in which someone can only take a course three times without effectively monitoring the level of teaching being done, they are setting students up for failure with certain teachers in multiple departments. I am struggling to get the one class I need to graduate because of one of those teachers and the department who has hindered instead of helped me, despite my not not meeting the 3x max to take the class. If they get on their stuff, they can be great, but it seems like, for now, they avoid staff problems by pushing students to other schools rather than listening.

Wake Tech is an excellent choice to start out with if you are not sure about what your aiming to do yet in the future or even if you just want to go into the 2-year route. There are amazing professors and amazing programs to join as well. I personally joined Wake Techs barbering program and it was an amazing experience. From the professors, the classroom, to the hands on experience, everything was excellent.
