As a student who completed their first year at Virginia Wesleyan University, I would say that my experience was great. I felt as though this school was exactly what I was looking for, and more. The campus is quite small, and very private. I appreciate this since this allows me to get to class on time, as well as not have to worry about who is on campus. The staff have been wonderful, especially the professors. While there were some I did not love, others were extremely helpful and tentative when addressing students. I am so excited to start my second year!
Virginia Wesleyan University definitely is what you make it. If you are the type to isolate yourself or if you are a social butterfly who loves parties and fun, I’d suggest you keep looking for a school that fits you. Virginia Wesleyan is less than 2,000 and graduation rate is under 50% and it’s noticeable. I have enjoyed school here because I have really gone out and joined teams, Greek life, clubs, and thrown my own parties but security is strict and you’ll have to go off campus or be on a sports team to actually have a good time and get away with it. The professors are awesome they all really do care about you and never treat you like a number. The small school atmosphere is definitely a plus when it comes to classroom environments and overall learning. At the end of the day I had a good time and earned my degree, there are a lot of mixed reviews but my advice is: Know your major if you want to graduate in four years, join a sports team, and involve yourself it is what you make it.
I have enjoyed my first semester at Virginia Wesleyan University. It is a a private college which makes it a very intimate environment. The class sizes are small enough to where no one is left out and the teachers create a friendly atmosphere where you can freely ask questions and reach out for help. Although the campus is small campus life is wildly active and easy to get involved in!
