University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Reviews

My time at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee started with my freshman year in the height of the pandemic. As an incoming freshman, I was weary about being in a heavily populated college during a time of troubled health. However, UWM provided most classes online in formats that best suited student engagement and learning. This also allowed me to stay home for my first year and save some money! My sophomore year began on campus and the transition to rural living to being in a city was quite the change, however UWM provided numerous ways to bring students together and feel comfortable on campus and in the city. My time academically here has been wonderful, as I am able to be fully immersed in my passions. I'm allowed an abundance of creative freedom and following feedback, preparing me for the real world.
My overall experience at UW-Milwaukee was insightful and worthwhile. The professors were well-informed and led courses with experience and interest in their fields. I enjoyed taking every one of the courses I took and was grateful to have the contact I had with my professors. Very rarely were any of them lacking in time to discuss assignments or other academics-related subjects. They were also exceedingly flexible and willing to work with students who needed accommodations, officially or on a case-by-case basis. The advising staff at UW-Milwaukee are also very helpful, interceding on a student's behalf or communicating effectively with students and faculty in order to resolve misunderstandings and confusions. It would be nice to see a greater diversity in course themes. Understanding and applying 21st-century issues is important to a well-rounded education, but it is also important to comprehend and allow historical context without judgement and editing.
UW-Milwaukee is a large research university located in a vibrant urban setting, which can offer a diverse range of opportunities and experiences to its students. The university has a strong reputation for academic excellence, particularly in areas such as engineering, business, and healthcare. Additionally, the campus is home to a wide variety of student organizations, clubs, and events, which can provide opportunities for personal and professional growth, as well as socializing and networking.
Another factor that might make UW-Milwaukee appealing to students is its affordability. Compared to other large universities in the region, UW-Milwaukee offers competitive tuition rates and a range of financial aid options, making it accessible to a wider range of students.
Overall, there are many factors that could make someone enjoy attending UW-Milwaukee, from the academic offerings and extracurricular activities to the urban setting and affordability. I like the people at the school.
