The campus is beautiful. It makes the trek to classes a bit bareable. Most of the professors are wonderful. They listen and are willing to help. I would love to see the school listen to students more about professors. It seems that no matter the complaint the school will keep professors who do not care about the students. This creates a bad reputation for the professors are go out of their way to positively educate and advance their pupils to the next level. The school also needs to invest in some extra curricular activities that will help students when they do finally leave the university. Upstate has a way of plopping alumni's out and not readying them for the real world.
Being a student at USC-Upsate has pushed me be a better student and person. I've learned so much from not only the institution but from my peers and instructors. The only thing that I would like to see change is more emphasis put on career emplacement after graduation.
I took dual enrollment classes through this university in high school. Even though I was not on campus, my professor was still reachable and helpful. I really enjoyed the classes I took.
I really like the programs and classes that they offer at this school. The staff are nice and the campus is amazing. I would most likely attend here.
Since joining USC Upstate, I’ve meet so many wonderful people who to some I can now call really good friends. I’ve met professors who I know I can relay on and speak with even if I’m not in their class. I’ve been extremely active on campus and joined a handful of organizations. I’ve also had the honor to be a speaker at a annual conference which is sponsored by USC Upstate on the topic of Immigration. My experience at USC Upstate by far has been amazing. I’m so grateful to have been accepted and attend this amazing University. Not only are the people kind and outgoing here, but the aesthetic of the campus makes you feel right at home as well.
I started my 1st semester at USC Upstate as a transfer student. The application process was easy for me (I had previously applied to the Columbia branch). Along with my transfer, I also decided to change my major from Women's studies to experimental psychology. This was a pretty big change especially since I hadn't taken many STEM-related courses since high school. I decided to reach out to the head of the psych. department (Stefanie Keen). She was very helpful and provided in-depth answers to all of my questions and helped put me on the right track so I can still graduate in 2025.
Upstate is a medium-sized school that has a lot of first generation and underrepresented college students. I am one of these and I think that Upstate caters perfectly to this type of student. It has pretty good student housing options and nature runs through the campus making it an attractive place to live.
It is also a very popular transfer school and I am also a transfer student. The transfer process could use some work, and you will definitely have to put forth some effort to make sure all your credits transfer.
Certain programs like that of my major (chemistry) have some particularly harsh professors who would better be suited retiring. However, aside from that one professor, Upstate is a pretty nice place to come for chemistry since the curriculum is rigorous and most professors do a wonderful job working with their students. There are also some fun and interesting research experiences you can take part in as a STEM major.

As an online student, all of the platforms are pretty easy to use and all the professors are pretty easy to get in touch with.
I love the campus and the professors are outstanding. They are willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to help students. Just and outstanding University.
My advisor has been extremely helpful, and the teachers are great. They really are there for you when it comes to academics. My advisor has been there to help and answer every question I have had.
USC Upstate has been a very great experience so far. The teachers are very helpful and
they want to see their students succeed in all things. It is a very friendly school and I enjoy going to there.

Wonderful professors that care for their students and want them to succeed. I have taken one hybrid course that was better than any other online/hybrid course I've taken at other schools. Upstate is truly a blessing to be able to attend.
When I visited Upstate for a tour, I found that the people were very welcoming and friendly. Everyone was very accommodating to my needs and answered the questions that I had regarding a possible acceptance to the University. The campus was very organized. It was like a home away from home. The food selection was okay; however, I felt that it could've been better. For example, I would like to see a Chick Fil A and additional options for coffee.
I first got a letter in the mail from USC Upstate stating that I was a junior scholar. My parents and I decided to go to USCU and go to the award ceremony, and I got awarded a 1,000 dollar scholarship just for coming to the ceremony. As soon as I saw the campus, I knew this was where I was going. The entire administrator staff is amazing, and they just want to get to know you. They will make sure that you aren't taking too many classes and will help you to succeed in life. If you go missing for a couple periods one day, they will make sure you are okay. They just want to know you personally and they really care about you. I realized that within the first 15 minutes that I was there. I would not recommend any other school to anyone.
I personally have not had the best experience here. I have not enjoyed my time here whatsoever and am soon leaving it
University of South Carolina Upstate is a wonderful school. Very welcoming environment offers many majors and programs.
One of the positive aspects of the University of South Carolina - Upstate is that it provides a comfortable and warming atmosphere in which you can enjoy the time with other students and have the opportunities to discover different perspectives one desires. However, one of the negative attributions with the University is that the Professor lack the ability, in some circumstances, to help the students with the material being covered and do not provide sufficient material to work with outside the classroom.
The teachers are very personable and the entire staff, from the Bookstore employees to the Chancellor to the baristas at the library coffee shop, everyone has been warm and welcoming. I get excited to come here and learn each week, and it's the perfect environment to encourage a transfer student to feel welcome. They also do TONS of campus activities each week to create an exciting student life.
The campus is gorgeous! The staff cares so much about you! There is plenty of opportunities to get any educational help.
I am about to start my second year at USC Upstate and I love it. I wasn't planning on attending a 4-year college, but I did, and I don't regret it. I love that it is a big campus, and I am able to walk a lot to all my classes to exercise every day.
