The University of Pittsburgh is known in part for being a research institution, and it lives up to the reputation! Since my freshman year I have been able to partake in research in several different labs, and look forward to doing so again this coming Fall! The opportunities do not end there, however, there are a myriad of clubs and organizations a student can become involved in, and there are always events happening on campus that are both fun and educational!

There are also many opportunities and events that promote and help students with start-up business ideas such as the annual Randall Family Big Idea competition. Students have access to career fairs, resume reviews, and help in finding co-ops and internships on a regular basis as well.

The campus is quite large, and beautiful. I would definitely recommend going here for pretty much any major, especially physical sciences, engineering, and psychology students.

I am lucky enough to say that my first year of college was a successful and manageable one, thanks to my time at Pitt. There are so many opportunities to get involved inside and outside of the classroom, so it is key to take advantage of them, even as early as your freshman year. The campus is a perfect blend of an urban city feel with a suburban feel, with Schenley park in the midst of the subtle bustle of Oakland. Sports are not that great but the games are still fun to go to! Pitt students have great school spirit. Also, dining halls on campus are not so great but you get what you get, and you get used to it. Plus, if and when you get sick of the dining hall foods, there are so many amazing places to eat within Pitt's campus and a short bus ride away in surrounding neighborhoods. I highly recommend anyone even remotely considering to go to this school to apply, go on a visit, and talk to current students. That is what confirmed my decision to attend this university.
The University of Pittsburgh is home to a plethora of amazing experiences. They offer an abundance of classes for all majors, have very helpful staff, and go over all information needed for new incoming freshmen and transfer students! Everyone there is super kind and super helpful, and teachers want you to succeed. Not to mention it’s located in Oakland, Pittsburgh, which is home to many delicious restaurants and gives you the true Steel City experience.
