I can honestly say I cannot imagine being this happy with any other university. I had high standards, as someone wanting to attend college here since the age of 14, but I was not disappointed in the slightest. The Elementary Education program creates such a close-knit and knowledgable group of students that I am so excited to see teach. As a pretty quiet person myself, there are people in my Elementary Ed classes I wouldn't even imagine speaking to or having anything in common with, but everyone is so extremely supportive and it truly feels like a big family. The professors in my department are very well-respected and knowledgable, while still clear that I can go to them with any personal issue I need advice on. The surrounding town is also amazing, there is so much to do while still keeping the small-town energy that draws a lot of students to campus. This University, especially the Elementary Education program, have exceeded my expectations in every way. I cannot recommend it more!
If you want to be ridiculed for your lack of interest in being a music major or sharing a cramped dorm with someone then this is the perfect place for you! The minute you step foot and campus you can practically sense the feeling of arrogance from the students AND the teachers. If you decided that music is much more overwhelming than it seemed, the teachers will let you know that you're an idiot for thinking that. The music majors re-enforce those ideas but making fun of you if you don't know every event that's going on. The campus is in the middle of nowhere so there's nothing to do but suffer. The other teachers are pretty understanding, though AND the food is really is really good. Besides that, this campus was built to make people hate Montevallo.
Overall the University of Montevallo is a great liberal arts college for those who wish to expand their knowledge on their desired passions. Ranging from Performing Arts to Speech Pathology, University of Montevallo has a variety of majors and minors to choose from. The teachers are extremely helpful and want to see their students succeed. Additionally, the University is filled with a whole list of fun activities to do on campus. The University of Montevallo is a great choice for anyone!
