I am a freshman at the University of Miami studying biomedical engineering and I love it! The campus is beautiful and there are so many things to get involved in. Students are all hardworking and care about each other. There are so many resources for help with classes, such as free tutoring by students. The local area is nice but you cannot really get anywhere by walking, so most students have cars. Also, not many students live on campus after freshman year. Overall, I have had a great experience so far
So far, college has been more challenging than I expected it to be. My high school did a great job preparing me for it, but the great increase in workload between high school and college caught me off guard at first. Past that, life has been wonderful since moving to Miami! I get to study exactly what I want to, learn from some of the best professors in the field, and experience the fun and culture found in Miami. One of my favorite out-of-class experiences at the U has been meeting people from all around the world. The "super-diversity" of campus has become something I cherish about my school!
The academics are great! The professors are extremely knowledgeable in their field and they are willing to help their students to succeed. There are also many opportunities for studying, such as the academic center and student center. Additionally, during finals season the university provides many options for stress relieving and preparing for the exams. Registration at UM is clear but it is also very crazy and hectic.
