I really enjoyed my time at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). I got involved in a scholars program, SGA, an LLC, and a couple of student organizations. I also attended both in-person and online during the pandemic. I think the school handled the pandemic really well. In terms of courses, my professors were all good, and kept the courses interesting. Though a lot of people do commute, there is a decent amount of things that occur for residential students. Overall, I had a great experience!
My short experience at UMBC was amazing! I was able to take classes in a variety of disciplines, meet new people, and explore the campus. The professors were knowledgeable and engaging, and the classes were challenging yet rewarding. The campus was beautiful and had plenty of activities to keep me busy. I was able to take advantage of the many resources available to students, such as the library, the career center, and the student organizations. I also had the opportunity to participate in a variety of events, such as the annual Spring Fest and the Homecoming Parade. Overall, my experience at UMBC was a great one and I'm glad I had the chance to be a part of it.
In my opinion UMBC is a very respectable school. They have tons of programs and opportunities to be great. If you’re a stem major it’s going to be hired but you can do it! The professors I had were honestly good but you can tell that some are average at best. my only issues with UMBC is that the lack of social life is very hard. My first week was great but once school starts you forget almost everyone you met. I love that people are that dedicated to school but it’s hard to try to fit in it because people formed the groups very quickly. Covid was definitely awful because the month that I transferred out to UMD, UMBC closed down the lounges and I was only restricted to the dining hall or in my dorm. You definitely want to come in preferred because some other advisers are clueless. If I stayed at UMBC I would’ve been set back two years of my life. If UMBC doesn’t have exactly what you’re looking for leave. Don’t waste your money on classes and experiences that you don’t love.
