This is my first academic year at The University of Illinois at Chicago. I transferred to this University after attending to previous institutions. Prior to my time at UIC I didn't enjoy learning however, now I'm beyond excited to complete my degree. I'm a transfer student who felt completely welcomed into the UIC community from day one. Even with COVID restrictions and protocols I still felt welcomed by the student base and from my professors. Overall, I find UIC to be a great environment and feel safe while on campus. There's attentive leaders and faces throughout my campus which is also comforting. In general, Chicago isn't the safest area but, while in the quad or walking to classes it feels like you're not even exposed to the dangers outside of the learning bubble which I like. I would wholeheartedly recommend friends, family, and future students to attend UIC because this institution does not miss when it comes to receiving an education. Can't wait to be done with my studies!
The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is a very diverse school which made it very welcoming and at home. I love how its location is in Chicago, one of the greatest cities in the world, where students can explore new places, restaurants, and more. Additionally, my professors and advisors have always been a ton of help for me and have guided me for the past three years of my undergraduate career. I lived at UIC for a year in a dorm and thoroughly enjoyed my experience there as I made many lifelong relationships and friendships from it. I suggest that all students take part in student organizations at UIC because of how wholesome and supportive they are of all!
UIC is a great university for someone who wants the independent college experience. In other words, campus life is not set up like a typical university where there are frat parties and jocks. It is very open and allows the student to live a very independent lifestyle. The location is unbeatable as well as the diversity. I can’t speak for the cafe food because I don’t live on campus but the food all around UIC (little Italy) still has my top choices when it comes down to it. The professors in the general courses are not very personal nor good in regard to making sure you understand, but the professors in the small more intimate classes are. In all, it is a lovely campus with great people from all different walks of life!
