I have nothing but an excellent experience at UHCL. From orientation, transfer advising, academic advising, professors and more, they never stop until you are taken care of. They offer a number of resources and programs for everyone. Campus is clean and growing! Plenty of parking at a great price. I have yet to have a terrible experience with any staff member and always felt like they genuinely cared for me and my college career. Everyone on campus is so friendly and I'm sure it has to do with the environment we are in all day. Very happy I decided to come to UHCL.
UHCL is expanding their campus, making for a better campus experience. Their is finally a cafe and a good size recreation center. One thing I do enjoy about the campus is I’ve never had a problem with parking, there has always been enough parking spots, unlike UH main. Another pro I can really appreciate is the admissions office, financial aids office, and etc. are very quick to answer your questions, theirs never a long wait to speak to someone, which is a amazing! One con I have with the campus in my opinion is there is never enough class availability! There is never enough classes that you need to take!
Smaller classes allow for personal connections with the professors, allowing students to receive guidance from them after class or within the professor's tutoring hours. Overall, quality of education is much higher due to the much closer relationship between a professor and their students.
In terms of financial aid, there is an internship fair and job fair every semester, and multiple academic competitions year round, which reward in scholarships, grants, and internships.
The university is located in a convenient location in Clear Lake, allowing for much faster travel than to some other universities.
The university is rather new and much smaller than some of its counterparts, but that is what make it special, if you are going to college to seek knowledge and not waste time, this is the place to go.
