Although I have only experienced my first semester of freshman year, the standards of this college have met my peaceful expectations and have been since I have marked my interest in middle school. Their environment and structures have simple, yet elegant beauty with intelligent staff who are extremely supportive towards each other and the students. Personally, the institution is highly convenient for me in both travel and tuition, compared to all other universities on the island. (And although the college is cheaper, their food is plenty, diverse, and very delectable!) I also strongly appreciate their charm in the arts and science degrees as I, myself, am an artist! The best statement I can for this college is that it definitely gives Waianae a good name. And I powerfully recommend it for those in the area looking for conveniences, creativity, and peace.
I think that this university is okay, BUT if you are a transfer student or a freshman, you have to wait a long time after registration to enroll in the courses that apply to your major/degree. By the time you can register, classes are filled up completely, leaving you to enroll in courses that doesn't apply to your major or degree. Also, they need to "add" more courses for each degree, because if you have financial aid, such as from Kamehameha Schools, we'd have to be enrolled FULL-TIME! I hope that this university improves their school by adding more courses online, reduce WI, OC, requirements. Otherwise, this university has a beautiful campus.
UH West Oahu is only a ten-minute drive from my house, making it the most convenient travel experience, a safe and familiar area, and it offers just what I want. While just starting, it was great to know they just started their pre-nursing pathway, which is what I want to do, and being able to enroll in nursing. Alongside, they offered students in their limited pre-nursing cohort a free three-class, seven-credit, summer session. The offers they gave to us students were great, and being a great campus, making it an easy transition from high school.
