This school really is up and coming! They are constantly expanding, and at the moment they have a great staff that really cares about their students. The tuition is super affordable too, which never hurts! The reason I gave four stars out of five is that there isn't really a lot of on-campus activity, and there aren't a lot of aid options for non-Hawaiians. Aside from that though, this school is like a community college that offers bachelors degress. I was going to transfer to UH Manoa, a sister school, and I found it overwhelming! UHWO is perfect for a lowkey student trying to get a great degree.

I am really impressed that they offer a lot of their majors through distance learning, which means all the course work for most classes are completed online. Student advisors for different majors are also helpful, especially in offering video conferencing for students who can't come to campus for an appointment. I think choosing this campus to attend school is helpful to students who are located on other islands of Hawai'i or even out of state, and students who work full-time or have family commitments. It is also a cheaper option compared to other schools like University of Hawaii Manoa, Hawaii Pacific University, and Chaminade University.
My advisors are great! They are really helpful. We’ve had multiple phone meetings and now I’m on the right track to getting my bachelors finally. I’m so excited that I was finally able to figure out my route and that we were able to get me enrolled in classes. So, I’m now enrolled and taking my first college class in nearly 13 years. I’m nervous, but I know with my academic advisor, I’ll be able to succeed and stay on track.
