A massive change in many college students' interpretation of education has shifted due to the pandemic. The University of Hawaii - West Oahu staff, educators, leadership role models, and many more have created teaching, advising, and student life most safely. With the significant change undertaken, these people took the time to make the change just for the students to better their education and college experience the safest way. University of Hawaii - West Oahu is closed for the whole 2020-2021 school year until further notice. The people who work in the school have a strong sense of having the students and workers be safe and healthy during this time of year. Even though there was a significant shift from in-person to distance education, it's manageable to the point where students are still being educated and getting their materials no matter what. Overall, the University of Hawaii - West Oahu is powerful minded in educating their students no matter the circumstances.

Having to change from in-person to distance education online has been manageable but also challenging. All of my classes at the University of Hawaii - West Oahu are all online. However, as an out-of-state student not in Hawaii for schooling, it's been difficult for some parts. I have missed my opportunities in taking my lab classes due to the school's inability to send over the required materials for the classes since I was not in Hawaii. Right now, I haven't taken any science labs that restrict me from taking any upper-division courses required for me to take. Aside from that issue, the communication between my professors and I is no problem because with having to have class and meeting through zoom, attending class and meetings is much simpler than in-person. Also, there was a significant shift in learning, but my education has always been essential and mattered. However, hiding behind a screen is much easier than having to be in class in-person, and the focus is inconsistent.
This school really is up and coming! They are constantly expanding, and at the moment they have a great staff that really cares about their students. The tuition is super affordable too, which never hurts! The reason I gave four stars out of five is that there isn't really a lot of on-campus activity, and there aren't a lot of aid options for non-Hawaiians. Aside from that though, this school is like a community college that offers bachelors degress. I was going to transfer to UH Manoa, a sister school, and I found it overwhelming! UHWO is perfect for a lowkey student trying to get a great degree.
