My experience at UCR has been great so far. First, I love the diversity we have here on campus! I was able to meet people from everywhere, and everyone is very friendly, so it was really easy to make a few friends along the way. Most of my professors have been great, and I could tell that they were really passionate about what they were teaching. Although I am not the biggest fan when it comes to long lectures, I feel like I am actually learning something, rather than when I was in high school. I also love the abundance of events that occur daily. The organizations/clubs are really awesome too, with most of them sounding very interesting to join. I am currently in two clubs and they are really fun. My only critique would probably have to be some professors not actually teaching, making it a less fun experience. But overall, I am happy I chose to be a student here, and I can't wait to see what the future holds!
My overall experience at UCR is awesome! I have made friends and connect with others from a diverse pool of different ethnicities and backgrounds. I have a positive outlook toward pursuing my major in UCR. However, I have considered that the tuition for an international student is pretty high, but can be manageable if offered a scholarship/grant.
The University of California, Riverside (UCR), is amazing when it comes to diversity and inclusion, however there is still room for improvement. When I first started attending UCR I immediately noticed what great care instructors took in including as many groups in their lectures as possible. Additionally, most professors find it incredibly important to have students input their own opinions, which has led to most lectures being safe places for every student to share. Still, there should be some improvements made when it comes to accessibility. When I say "accessibility" not only am I talking about being accessible towards students with disabilities, but non-traditional students as well. Many events do not take assistive technology into account, or the scheduling issues non-traditional students face. UCR could fix many issues if it just constantly kept the many types of students who attend in mind when making changes.
