UCI is a nice place in the sense that it's generally safe and easy to get around. Professors vary from each other; since the university is a research university (and they take pride over that), your professors will vary from individual to individual. It's not surprising if your professor is super smart but horrible in teaching. You really have to fight for yourself here in studying, but that's not saying there aren't good Professors at all - there are! Emphasis on Professors because sometimes that's just what'll make or break your happiness for that quarter or so.

That being said, it's also not surprising to question your tuition here if it's worth it or not. UCI is a great place for connections, and if you learn well here and you connect well, then the money you put in here is pretty worth.

As a first year, UCI has totally exceeded my expectations when it comes to a college experience. The environment itself is beautiful and enriching, which really contributes to a student's well being. UCI promotes education, and although it is challenging, I found it to be beneficial to be in a competitive environment because it pushes me to do my best academically. The professors at UCI keep their students into consideration at all times, and not to mention there are so many centers at a students fingertips it's hard to keep track of them all! All in all, UCI does not disappoint.
As a regular public university, this UCI does not stand out. Each of the schools and their respective majors stand well in their field regarding difficulty and reputation, however academics are not the outstanding factors of this school. The prioritization in student living conditions and networking is a very underrated achievement this school has strengthened over time. Through conversations with alumni in and out of my field, it became apparent that UCI truly prepares students for their careers through commendable adaption into the real world and through other resources that succeed based on the student's commitment, rather than simple class grades.
