My major is in Organizational leadership which deals with both human psychology as well as expert tactics. Organizational leadership emphasizes on developing leadership skills and abilities that are relevant across the organizations. It clearly identifies and distinguishes the leaders from the mangers. It helps us students draw upon the knowledge of many disciplines, including leadership, social sciences, technology, and communication. The program will prepare me for success in emerging global, corporate, government, and industrial environments. This degree helps you build a associate degree, develop an enriched knowledge base and new perspective for work and life and also open doors to obtaining a master's or doctoral degree. Internship/ job opportunities i could have at are OK Transportation inc, Dillard's, Western Arkansas Employment Development Agency, South Eastern Freight Lines, Klein Tools and ABF Freight. I can also internship at Gerber's Factory.
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith is close to my home town in southern Sebastian County. It is a large college campus with a small town feel that strives to get students involved with anything and everything together. The class size keeps students engaged in what is going on and allows one-on-one assistance with all academic needs. While it does not have a football team like most southern universities, the other events offered makes up for that. I am returning to college after 4 years to study psychology because I know that it would not only better me as an individual but also enhance the mental health needed in my community and I cannot think of a better college than the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith to help me achieve my goals.
The school is an excellent environment, fantastic people, and loving educators that know each student individually. The biggest downside is the Financial Aid office and most of the other offices don't communicate with each other, their well understaffed for an 8,000+ school, and the school loves to screw you over. They lack communication between people and departments, they won't respond to emails except the multiple spams one would have to do to get their attention. They don't help with student on info about the fafsa and requirements for it to get aid on time. They don't know very much about anything and won't help unless you yell at them, cry at them, or bring back-up to intimidate them. Plenty of students left, and many more have officially dropped out, because of the Financial Aid office because of their incompetence.
