The University at Buffalo is a great research institution with affordable tuition. I received my BA from UB and decided to return to pursue my Master of Social Work degree (UB's School of Social Work is one of the top 50 in the nation). The size of the university can be intimidating, so it's definitely important to find a community within the university. For example, I majored in Gender Studies for my undergrad degree, which was a small major so I was able to get to know people in a smaller setting. I've enjoyed being able to meet people from around the country and around the world, as UB has a large population of international students. There are tons of opportunities to get involved with research which is super exciting! UB has endless opportunities which I am very grateful for!
Review University at Buffalo, SUNY
The university has a long list of programs so it is easy to find clubs, activities, and academic programs that apply to your individual interests and needs. It is easy to become involved on campus and there are a lot of networking opportunities. The staff engages with their students very well for such a large school, and the university does a great job at getting information out to its students. The dorms are nice and a good size for the amount of people they hold. The food is very good and the meal plans are sensible. University at Buffalo has a lot to offer its students academically and socially. There are plenty of on campus events to entertain the students and the staff does a good job at making students feel at home. There is also work study available for students that may need assistance in paying for college and school related expenses. This school has so much to offer and can really lead to a successful career!
UB is a great place to find a major to set you up for a great career. Professors here are always very passionate for what they teach and find opportunities to engage students in their passions and research. Since this is a research college, you'll find that similar "critical thinking" atmosphere, throughout. Extremely diverse, and safe being an understatement. UB's athletic program is top notch. Our food is amazing! You'd have to come by to really understand it's thoroughness and diversity.
