I came to the University as an International Student and immediately felt welcomed as the school is very diverse.
I had to live on-campus for two years, which at first it was difficult because there is no one telling you what to do, so I had to learn how to live alone, do my laundry, and just take care of myself.
I know that UAlbany is known for being a "party school", but being here made me realize that wherever you go there will be people who love to party, and if you don't it doesn't matter, there is something for everyone and your college experience will mostly depend on what you decide to make out of it. I personally got involved in several clubs like the Musical Theater Association and Dance Council, and went to events every week since there is always something going on!
What made me choose this school is the research going on. There are a lot of labs and opportunities to get involved, so I feel like when I get out of school I will be prepared!

I honestly have had a great experience at UAlbany so far. I'm a sophomore now, and I love how open the campus is, and how there's a huge fountain by the lecture centers. When it's warm out, it's fun to hang out with friends by the fountain. Also, there's a lot of resources to help you choose your major, like the living-learning communities (which I was a part of freshman year). The university also helped me to study abroad in London!
SUNY Albany's fine art & art history faculty were wonderful. They were not absentee staff that were only approachable during the one hour of availability posted on the office door. The classes when I went there, leaned toward the classical ideas of fine art. Printing, drawing and painting, photography, and sculpture. However, when students voiced their need for more "contemporary" art classes like digital imagery, SUNY staff listened! Our graduating class attended SUNYA's very first digital arts class., and it grew from there. Four stars just for that.

The campus was made for an arid climate. The New York winter winds whip through the open concept design.
