SUNY Albany's fine art & art history faculty were wonderful. They were not absentee staff that were only approachable during the one hour of availability posted on the office door. The classes when I went there, leaned toward the classical ideas of fine art. Printing, drawing and painting, photography, and sculpture. However, when students voiced their need for more "contemporary" art classes like digital imagery, SUNY staff listened! Our graduating class attended SUNYA's very first digital arts class., and it grew from there. Four stars just for that.

The campus was made for an arid climate. The New York winter winds whip through the open concept design.

UAlbany is an excellent school in the SUNY system, and students there definitely get their money's worth when it comes to education.
Yes, UAlbany's campus might be very large, and it might take a while for new (and even some returning) students to find their way, but after spending some time on campus, you'll know everything like the back of your hand. Another advantage of UAlbany's size is that it's very easy to find like-minded people- with around 15,000 students and around 200 clubs and organizations on campus, it's also extremely easy to find someone who wants to be your friend!
My experience at the University at Albany has truly been a remarkable one. I gained a family while being apart of the University at Albany's Division 1 Women's Track and Field team and being apart of a performing arts group on campus! SUNY Albany provided numerous opportunities for academic enrichment, I got to meet some of the greatest professors that taught me more about the world and they also taught me about myself. I wouldn't trade my school for the world.
