Since 1795, Union College has been defining—and continually redefining—what it means to provide a liberal arts education. We've been challenging convention, blurring boundaries and shaking up traditional thinking. We develop every student to lead with wisdom, empathy and courage, in ways large and small, now and across multiple tomorrows.
Union is a highly selective, private, residential, liberal arts college with engineering that is consistently ranked among the nation's top colleges. Our 100 acre campus in Schenectady, N.Y. is a short walk to all downtown has to offer, and is within easy reach of New York City, Boston, Montreal and outdoor recreation.
Our 2,150 students choose from 58 majors and minors. They engage with faculty and immerse themselves in research, internships and studying abroad. They create community through 130 student clubs and organizations, 26 varsity athletic teams (Div. III with Div. I ice hockey), our unique Minerva Program and many service opportunities.

Union College - New York Reviews
Small community: welcoming, actively becoming more diverse, environment enables personal and professional growth, easy to be involved
Trimesters: useful for staying organized when everyone knows which week it is (x/10) and it makes studying abroad more flexible.
Disability services: A+, all of my professors have been accommodating.
Schenectady: good location (burst the campus bubble to visit the weekly farmer's market or walk downtown, get home during breaks from the new Amtrak station 5 min from campus, volunteer through Union's Kenny Center)
School pride: yes! Especially during hockey season
Friends: the best. lifelong. unique backgrounds
ResLife: old furniture, fun people (s/o to West College 3rd floor!)
Becker Career Center: great! Staff will go above and beyond to help you
Weekends: not always enough to do; parties 3-4 nights/week
Greek Life: big presence on campus; it's there if you want it
The academic experience at Union is great, as the professors are super engaging and they can really get to know you. Being able to talk directly to your professors to get the help you need is awesome. Union also has a great engineering program!
