Something I thought was unique was its active engagement with the current culinary workforce. I competed in my first professional food competition in just my 3rd week of school; made it to the finals and placed 2nd! I originally only participated just for the experience (win/lose), however being able to apply what I learned in such a short about of time made the difference. We learn real life and practical skills that will benefit us in the industry. Placing 2nd out of 20 teams is a testimony of that.
Review The Chef's Academy - Morrisville
There are not many campus activities that take place. The school has tried to have clubs, but no one ever joins them due to the lack of excitement . The library is equipped with recipe books and many computers. The librarian is knowledgeable, nice, and very helpful. The campus is usually kept up pretty well. There is a small student lounge with vending machines.
My specific major is baking and pastry arts. I really like my chef instructor, but I feel that I didn't have enough time spent to absorb the things that were being taught. The workload was not to heavy. I had to find an internship on my own and it is unpaid. I was told that many pastry internship will be unpaid which is very difficult financially.
