We definitely have a unique blend of students at Ai. Appearances can be deceiving, especially in art school! In general, most students are openminded and we haev a diverse population of LGBT as well as straight folks, athiest/non religious as well as christian or jewish folks, politically savvy versus politically disinterested folks, and mostly what I would call middle-class kids who are trying to make their craft their profession.

It was fun school to start off with. But everything seems to be going downhill after they announced that they would be closing down half of there campuses. Ai in Cincinatti is closing in 2018. Soon they will shut down houseing but they are trying to give everyone there a fair education before the closing. I wouldn't do this again but Ive met a few good people here.
I can't explain how much my horizons have already opened up even after just two quarters at Ai. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing from Miami University (OH) in 2011 and interned in Los Angeles in Script Development for the Film Industry for a year. I realized my love for cinema late in the game and had to return to Ohio for personal reasons, so I was happy to find a place to cultivate my skills that is truly focused on real world opportunities after graduation. Every teacher I have had thus far has been patient and given us a perception of the importance of craft in whatever professional endeavor we're embarking upon. In addition, the professors know how to allow creavtivity to flourish while maintaining strict guidelines to keep us moving progressively along to glean new skills in their subject. It's been a real delight thus far.
