Despite AUR's smaller size, it has the very best that Rome can offer. I spent 2.5 years at AUR and only wish I could have spent more time there. I was a transfer student and the transfer process was extremely easy. The housing was a bit expensive, but was near the campus and the campus is perfectly located right near Trastevere and the city center (all within walking distance and easily accessible by public transit, too). The classes were varied in offering and rewarding. Being located in Rome, the university offered weekend trips around Europe that gave you academic credit which is something no American university could do! The administration was very helpful with visa paperwork, immigration issues, housing, Italian/English translations, etc. The student body comes from a wide array of nations/religions which made learning even more enjoyable inside and outside the classroom. Library was small. They also offer some work positions for students which was a nice way to earn some money.
I transferred to AUR my junior year and it was the best 2 years of my life- both academically and experience wise.
Living in the beautiful city of Rome, while being taught by passionate professors, and surrounding yourself with international students is an experience that is once-in-a-lifetime!
Highly recommended for anyone who is willing to go out of their comfort zone and learn the most about themselves!
AUR Business program is one that highly rewarding, learned through case studies and very practical approach- especially with the Capstone and thesis experience!
AUR Business Club is an amazing opportunity to learn hands-on experience running a real merchandising business!
AUR will forever hold a special place in my heart!

Like most universities, the education you get here is one you put in the effort to receive. If you're a good student, you'll do great.
Being a small campus, you get to know everyone at a personal level. This is by far the greatest strength The American University of Rome has. AUR is not a perfect school and especially during the pandemic the school has no doubt disappointed a lot of students. However, I'm certain that the kind-hearted and diligent staff and faculty can get things back on track. Something a lot of students don't realize before arriving is that being at this university, you have to learn to be an adult. Some students come thinking everything will be spoon-fed to them. They don't realize that there is only so much a university can do for them in their personal lives. If you plan on attending here, prepare yourself to be independent and individualistic. You can't come expecting to not have to cook, clean, and deal with problems by yourself. That's just not realistic.
