My experience at Taft College is great! I like that all the teachers there are very communicative and help you with any questions that you have. Something that I would like to see changed is that they should expand their campus more and make it bigger. It is small right now, but if it were to grow, many people would be able to attend it. The staff is very friendly as well and makes it their number on priority to help students enroll, learn, and get their necessities. The professor there helps you learn effectively and let you know what you are doing wrong in an assignment. Also, they make sure that you are succeeding and let you know about scholarships that are due. They send out daily reminders of scholarships and important events that can help someone that is struggling. Not many schools care about seeing their students survive. Moreover, they enroll students in under thirty minutes. Other schools make it a process to enroll and have waiting lists that can ruin someone's chances.
My online experience, in the beginning, was a complete burr. I had to learn how to use a computer effectively and submit assignments online. Canvas was difficult to figure out in the beginning. Also, I did not know where to find many assignments in my class and had to research many tabs, before I can begin on my first assignment. Eventually, I started to figure out how to work canvas and locates my homework and assignments. My professors did a good job communicating and creating videos that help you answer where you can find certain assignments and how to set up your MLA formatting. In addition to this, many of my teachers required zoom class meetings in order to teach us a little bit more and have more time communicating. Another thing is that my professors already had made previous videos from online classes that show presentations of the course we are taking. If I had any questions I would just email my teachers about them and I would receive a quick response. Overall, it is great!
For my degree, all of my courses are online. However, since the virus, an important class had to be transported to online, just like any other school. My online experience was very easy going and smooth. The teachers made sure to give us thorough undivided attention by checking up on each student through messages on canvas and through comments under our papers after we submitted them. Those comments were helpful for me to stay in contact with my teacher.
To enhance communication, some teachers, like my English teacher Mrs. Karlson, provided us with an assistant for this summer semester since she logically recognized that her students would be stressed out because this semester is usually the shortest. All the students were grateful that she read our minds! We would have to meet up with our assistant once every week to go over our assignments. This was very helpful because, in this way, I was able to keep track of the assignments and correctly understand them.
