Many stereotypes are made about community colleges, but I have not received the experience that is portrayed to be looked down upon. I attended community college due to the pandemic, but throughout my almost two years at the college, I have loved being involved on campus and exploring the many opportunities that have been presented to me. Like any school, whatever you put into it, you’ll get out of it. With that being said, I definitely recommend getting involved in any way that you can, especially within campus life and opportunities within your major, which can be easier to make friends too. There has been so many fun experiences inside and outside the classroom setting. The overall academics is a basic education with average professors, but as long as you put effort in, then there should be no issues. Some of my professors have been very opinionated and rude, remember to choose wisely. Overall, I have absolutely loved my experience at community college and recommend it to anyone!
I attended online for three semesters before graduating with my Associates in psychology! The profs were easy to work with, classes taught me enough, and all of my credits transferred easily. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is due to the technical issues- as an online student, it made it difficult when BigBlueButton would be down or running slowly every other class, or when professors were not trained properly and class took an extra 20 minutes to start because we needed to explain how to work the thing. My favorite classes were ones that the instructors went rogue and chose to use zoom instead! Overall a positive experience though.
The wide variety of programs offered on this campus is amazing. Once I found the Culinary Institute at SCCC I couldn't wait to get started. It made life easier then trying to get into a culinary program in a major city. I started the program this fall and it was great. Taught by instructors that graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, I feel like I am definitely getting a great education that's affordable. The campus is spacious and airy. Everyone is always friendly. I look forward to the days I'm on campus and in class! Don't pass up the chance to get a good foundation to your education here!
