SUNY Potsdam Reviews
As a freshmen, I've had the opportunity to live in two different dormitory buildings. My fall semester I resided in the Bowman Hall, Bowman East First-Year Interest Group floor. The custodians did an amazing job keeping the building clean and were speedy completing work order requests. However, living with Freshmen was an experience. Broken washing machines every other week, nasty bathrooms on the weekends after parties, loud music playing, running down the hallway at 4 am. For my spring semester, I moved to Draime, regular draime not the extension. I absolutely love it! It's clean, quiet, everyone worries about their own things, no drama and it's more of an upperclassmen building, so it's more study-friendly.
I really love the flexibility of the scheduling and the classes they offer. I've had some really amazing teachers but unfortunately I've switched my major to business and it's not a very good school for that so I may end up transferring. Definitely worth the investment though! I've had a lot of fun here, the people are really nice
I have come to the realization that college/university is what you make it. With that being said, this school offers more than enough opportunities for a student to do just that. If a student invests in his or her schoolwork, socializes with peers/classmates, and/or engages with what the campus has to offer, there is no reason why your college experience at SUNY Potsdam shouldn't be memorable and, in the long run, valuable. My only issue is with how much focus is given to the ranking of its dining services. Having decent food is good, but I think the campus should place more focus on encouraging academic excellence and updating the overall aesthetic of the campus.
