I am currently a Junior at SUNY Potsdam and have enjoyed my time here thus far. I personally have enjoyed the life-long friends I've made, the connections I've made with my professors/department, and with those in the local community (especially, at the local coffee shop - Jernabis!). SUNY Potsdam, like many colleges, is what you make it. If you put yourself out there, join activities you like/are passionate about, and apply yourself in your department, the chance of you enjoying your college experience increases. Potsdam has a variety of student clubs/organizations and sports teams to join to connect with peers outside of classes too. Academics at Potsdam vary in quality depending on the department you are in, so I highly recommend searching and reaching out to your department of choice before attending. Dorming at Potsdam is pretty good and food is average/has downgraded slightly since COVID, but PACES is actively trying to improve. I recommend checking out Potsdam!
I loved SUNY Potsdam for the Liberal arts part of the University, I hated everything else, I think the best thing that happened to us during the time I was attending was the Pandemic switching us over to Online. The teachers and the students are some of the best people I have ever met. The administrative part of that school was very racist, I was told to "Go Back Home" and "Going to College isn't Mandatory" when I had any issues with financial aid or needed any more funding for myself. It was always such an awful encounter when I had to make a visit to the ONE STOP. The college claims to be diverse but they are in deep need of more diverse people at the Top, they tried to erase the fact that a student caused a racist incident by accepting more people of color, but treating them like 3rd class citizens and using the meaning of systematic racism.
I am white-passing but lord the amount of demeaning looks and comments were enough to make me run and never come back.

SUNY Potsdam is a welcoming, diverse environment rich with educational and cultural teachings. The student life in this facility is wonderful and the resources available to all students are incredibly helpful. The award-winning food is delicious and constantly improving. This small school truly cares about the success of each student that it serves.
