I was drawn to the attitudes and feelings of inclusivity that Downstate stands for. I have always valued treating everyone equally and respectfully. Downstate accepts students from a range of backgrounds, cultures, and economic classes. Beginning at orientation, I felt part of one diverse family. I came in not knowing anyone and left feeling included and excited to begin the program with a diverse group of students and faculty.
I have learned so much from all of my classmates. Everyone respects one another and asks each other questions out of genuine interest. I have also learned so much about different types of cultures and value systems. Our faculty places a heavy focus on health care equality for all people. It’s helpful to be learning amongst students from different cultures who are able to share more about their backgrounds to the class.
Our cohort ensures to always assist one another. We are a unique program as we recognize that we are in nursing school to help others.

Not only is this college institution affordable, it uses a holistic approach when choosing their students. SUNY Downstate represents diversity and inclusion and serves as a melting pot and depicts what New York truly represents.
This institution has a excellent professors which reflects the college’s high graduation rate across the board. Not to mention, some graduates move on to become peers or colleagues of the very professors that taught them. This is a prime example of giving back to the community so to speak.

Very conservative and conventional application process. Firstly through a common web application you file a preliminary application. In this process, those with unfavorable grades or test scores are filtered out. In the secondary application, you are then interviewed in search of traits correlating to the field you are pursuing. Greatly affordable and academically inclining school.
