The most notable difference between Stetson and other universities is the ease of access to buildings and facililities. The campus is rather compact, which puts everything within walking distance. Another contribution to the Stetson experience would have to be the atmosphere produced via Stetson's core values of intellectual development, personal growth, and global citizenship. This has helped keep every student focused and driven in their respective interests.
The only negative aspects I've observed are high costs and mediocre communication. Stetson hosts an abundance of events, so it is difficult to advertize everything to everyone. Stetson is also fairly expensive. Although tuition rises each year, the most recent increase of 2.9% is the lowest in Stetson history. So there is hope for a more affordable future!
Review Stetson University
I've just started attending here from many states away, and it feels like home. The community is very welcoming. My favorite experience so far was FOCUS week, which is an orientation for all the students that consists of simple fun and getting to know each other. My school is very small but it's beautiful and very close to the beach and a downtown shopping/restaurant area. I'd choose to attend here again and again... and I'm so happy I did. I love being able to say hi to people but also see a new face everyday. I love seeing students hammock at the palm trees. I love how the library is open till 2!
I love Stetson so far! The faculty is wonderful. When I was looking at schools, my major deciding factor fell on how personable the faculty is. No matter what department they are in, they are so passionate and ready to help their students. I have been asked by one professor to be their TA next fall and have been taken in as an unofficial mentee by another. The classes are small and great. The overall workload is manageable and you can balance a job, activity, and a social life around your school work, even with a full load. I find myself comparing Stetson to the schools my childhood friends chose and I do not regret my decision at all. We truly are a family of friends, faculty, and students.
