I have loved my time here at Saint Johns River State. I chose to attend this school for my associates over FSCJ because of how unorganized FSCJ is. Getting a clear answer on anything, ensuring all paperwork and applications were taken care of, and talking with an advisor were impossible. SJR has been really involved in my success. It is really easy to meet with an advisor, speak with someone on the phone, and even get email responses quickly. All the professors I've had have been incredible as well!
I really am enjoying this college! The campus is very pleasing, there is a lot of forest and a pond going through the center. The professors all care deeply and do their best to set you up for success. The quiet atmosphere is conclusive to srudying and there are plenty of spots you can just sit down and study, do homework or just study! There are also many amenities that are paid for by your tuition such as their tutoring.
I am a high school dual enrollment student, so my experience with SJR differs from that of a full-time college student. The school offered a decent variety of classes, a mostly straightforward application process, and good locations. I will say that the school's book request and procurement process can be obtuse at best. There's a separate library to get books and a bookstore you have to drive a few miles to sometimes to get all of your books. The classes for me were paid for by my school but even so, the classes and books were reasonably priced. On class selection, they have a great variety of classes and my only complaint is that their STEM classes are lacking in amount and variety of campuses. However, SJR offers excellent online class support. The online classes were tough, fair, and informational. Overall good school for an AA.
